Introduction

[OpsMgr 2012] Operation Manager 2012 Toolbox - Override Explorer Updated

To complete the toolbox post created here : OpsMgr Toolbox, here is an article to announce that OverrideExplorer has been updated to Version 3.7 to work with OpsMgr2012 and includes some minor fixes, as well as the capability to Export all overrides to an Excel spreadsheet. It also now shows both Windows and Unix computers in the computers view.

[OpsMgr 2012] Customizing Subject and Body Fields in SCOM 2012 E-Mail Notifications

Walter Chomak has written an article that explain the syntaxt to use to change the email notitfication and in particular, how to reveal the status (New, Closed, Assigned etc..) directly in the subjet of the notification email.

The resulting e-mail subject will read:

STATUS: Closed || PROBLEM: Failed to Connect to Computer

Overview

The Monitoring Pack will allow you to monitor the health of Microsoft System Center 2012 SP1 Beta – Configuration Manager by monitoring general health; data replication between Configuration Manager sites; server and service availability; SQL Server configurations; Backup and recovery; backlog monitoring; software update synchronization; and other server role configuration.

This release of monitoring pack delivers improved capabilities for Configuration Manager monitoring, including the following:

• Monitoring the availability status of all server roles
• Monitoring the health status of key services

[OpsMgr 2007 R2][OpsMgr 2012] System Center Data Access or Management Configuration services fail to start after applying KB2677070

Summary

After applying KB2677070 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2677070), the System Center Data Access service or System Center Management Configuration service may fail to start with a TimeOut error.

More Information

This issue occurs because the update changes the URLs used to contact Windows Update to download the trusted and untrusted CTLs. If the old URLs were hardcoded as exceptions in the firewall or proxy, the server running the Data Access service or the Management Configuration service will fail to download the new CTLs because it can't reach the updated web address.

The workaround for this is to unblock the updated URLs in the firewall or proxy or disable CRL checking for the Data Access service and Management Configuration service.

The updated URLs are:

Open the following file in a text editor:
- for the Data Access service: Microsoft.Mom.Sdk.ServiceHost.exe.config
- for the Management Configuration service: Microsoft.Mom.ConfigServiceHost.exe.config (in SM) or cshost.exe.config (in OM)

To disable CRL checking add the following line in the <runtime> section:

• MPViewer

The previous version 1.7 (that works with OpsMgr 2007 and 2007 R2) was released here. Version 2.2.1 has been updated to work with OpsMgr 2012, and now includes support for MPB files (MP Bundles), shows embedded resources in bundles (such as images or scripts), loads MPs asynchronously, and has the ability to Unseal and Unpack MP Bundles.
Warning: only MP Bundles that contain a single ManagementPack are supported; there are some Service Manager MPBs that contain multiple ManagementPacks in a single bundle, and this tool currently cannot deal correctly with those. This should not be a problem for OPSMGR Management Packs, that typically contain only one Management Pack per bundle.
