[OpsMgr 2007 R2][OpsMgr 2012] Running Operations Manager reports fail with "System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException" error

Article ID: 2836388 - View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When running reports using the Operations Manager console, the report fails with the error message below:

Date: <date-time>
Application: Operations Manager
Application Version: 7.0.9538.0
Severity: Error
Message: Cannot execute report.
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Value of '0001-01-01 12:00:00 AM' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'MinDate' and 'MaxDate'.
Parameter name: Value
   at System.Windows.Forms.DateTimePicker.set_Value(DateTime value)
at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.Controls.RelativeDateTimePicker.LoadRelativeDateValues(ComboBox dateEditor, DateTimePicker timeEditor, ReportParameterInfo dateBaseTypeParameter, ReportParameterInfo dateBaseValueParameter, ReportParameterInfo dateOffsetTypeParameter, ReportParameterInfo dateOffsetValueParameter)
   at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.Controls.RelativeDateTimePicker.LoadValues(ReportParameterInfoCollection reportParameters)
   at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.Controls.RelativeDateTimeBusinessPicker.LoadValues(ReportParameterInfoCollection reportParameters)
   at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.ReportParameterBlock.LoadValues()
at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ReportForm.OnRenderingCompleteJob(Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args)

Cause

This issue can occur if there is a custom Short DateTime format being used on the console server.

For example, say the system locale on the Operations console server is ENC and the default short DateTime format for ENC locale is dd/MM/yyyy. If this short DateTime format is changed from dd/MM/yyyy to a different format such as yyyy-MM-dd, the error above may occur.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, set the short DateTime format to the system locale's default value.

More information

Custom DateTime formats are not supported with System Center Operations Manager reporting.

[OpsMgr 2007 R2] Columns may be missing in Monitoring views after installing the SQL 2012 Management Pack in Operations Manager 2007 R2

Article ID: 2809231 - Last Review: January 28, 2013 - Revision: 1.1

Columns may be missing in Monitoring views after installing the SQL 2012 Management Pack in Operations Manager 2007 R2

   Summary

After installing the SQL Management Pack version 6.3.173.1 in System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, you will see default columns selected in the monitoring views for the new SQL 2012 components.

However, if you upgrade to this Management Pack from an earlier version without removing the old one first, the columns will remain unchanged from your previous view settings.

This is by design, although you can go to Personalize View under Actions and check the desired columns to display.

  More information

This behavior may also occur with other Management Packs.

[Orchestrator] Orchestrator does not reconnect when the SQL server is restarted

Runbooks stop executing and the Orchestrator Runbook Service and Management Server do not function as expected when the SQL Server instance that hosts the Orchestrator database is restarted. Errors are expected to occur during the downtime of the SQL Server, however proper connectivity and behavior does not restore once the SQL Server instance has restarted.

When the problem is occurring, the following events are logged to Orchestrator's Event window:

The Orchestrator Runbook Service on <server name> is no longer running. Verify the status of the Runbook Server and try to restart Orchestrator Runbook Service. If the problem persists, contact Technical Support.

and

The Runbook Server is suspended because the product license expired.

Cause

The Orchestrator services must be restarted in order for normal behavior to be restored. Microsoft has determined this is an issue in System Center 2012 Orchestrator.

Resolution

A fix is scheduled to be available in an upcoming update for System Center. Please contact Microsoft Technical Support for more details.

[OpsMgr 2012] Operations Manager integration with System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager fails with error 10218

When creating the integration from System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM 2012) to Operations Manager, the integration fails with the following error :

Error (10218) Setup could not import the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Management Pack into Operations Manager server because one or more required management packs are missing. The SCVMM Management Packs cannot be deployed unless the following component management packs are present in Operations Manager 2007:
Windows Server Internet Information Services 2003,
Windows Server 2008 Internet Information Services 7,
Windows Server Internet Information Services Library,
SQL Server Core Library.

NOTE All required Management Packs have been imported in Operations Manager.

Read Microsoft Article ID: 2674625

In this scenario, the Virtual Server 2005 R2 Management Pack was imported which imports the Microsoft Virtualization Core Library. The cause of the problem is that SCVMM 2012 will import a newer version of the Microsoft Virtualization Core Library Management Pack and the old version cannot be present in order for integration to complete successfully.

There are two potential solutions:
  • Remove the old version of the Microsoft Virtualization Core Library and the Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Management Pack.
or
  • Configure a second Operations Management group for the SCVMM 2012 integration and configure the SCVMM 2012 server as well as the Hyper-V servers to report to this new management group.

The Microsoft Virtualization Core Library is a Hyper-V Management Pack developed by the Hyper-V team. It has been updated to support the latest version of Hyper-v and improve monitoring of the hosts.
