Features removed in System Center Technical Preview & Release Notes - Updated: September 30, 2014

The following features and functionalities have been removed from this release of System Center Technical Preview. Applications, code, or usage that depend on these features will not function in this release unless you employ an alternate method.

Status in System Center Technical Preview: Removed.
Replacement: For on-premises deployments, provision IaaS and PaaS solutions using Windows Azure Pack. Additionally, virtual machine and PaaS self-service solutions are available in Windows Azure Pack and Azure.

Status in System Center Technical Preview: Removed.
Replacement: Use VMWare vCenter 5.5 and 5.8.

Replacement: We recommend that you engage with proactive governance partners that can integrate into your current System Center investments.

[OpsMgr 2012 R2 UR3] Check if SCOM 2012 R2 Infrastructure was upgraded to UR3 ( #OpsMgr #Script )

Jure Labrovic has published a script to check if SCOM 2012 R2 Infrastructure was upgraded to UR3. I get this information on the Technet gallery where all the code is given.


  1. Scripts Gets, All Management Servers, Gateway Servers and Web Console Server.
  2. Then it checks if there are event log entries which indicate that SCOM 2012 UR3 was installed.
  3. It checks file version in OpsMgr installation folder and displays all updated DLLs

[OpsMgr 2012] Monitoring Distributed Applications in Operations Manager #XML #OpsMgr2012 #DistributedApplication

Russ Slaten (MSFT) has published a very good article and give tutorial describing how to create a distributed application in XML on System Center 2012 Operations Manager.

The console already provides a wizard for creating distributed applications. The article by Russ gives the pieces of code to allow this operation.

This Microsoft System Center Management Pack for System Center Service Manager should be used to monitor System Center 2012 - Service Manager and above.
